Recording sounds on my travels
I travel a lot and everywhere I go I carry at least one of my three field recording setups. These range from my pocket sized Zoom h2n, to my larger Zoom H5 studio and then finally my H5 studio combined with a pair of DPA 4060 omni microphones mounted in a A-B Configuration.
I also carry a Scherfler contact microphone and I’m in the process of building a VLF receiver and a Hydrophone, an underwater microphone that will have a frequency range of 10Hz-100kHz and can be used to pickup the sounds of several aquatic animals.
These sounds I use often for my own work in Sound Design and so I have collated them into useful bundles you can access and use for free
As well as the usual atmosphere and spot FX recording I do, I also enjoy collecting Impulse Responses (IR) from spaces with interesting and distinctive acoustics. These can be added to convolution reverb plugins such as Logic’s Space Designer, Altiverb or Convoxology XT (Free) and can be made into one of a kind reverbs and ambiences for use in your music or soundscape.
